Sassoon Color Team Leader

Dorothy has true passion for the industry, especially color, traveling around the country to work with the best colorists, and bringing the information back to CCU.  She has worked with world renowned Sassoon and Wella Specialists and proudly teaches her skills to students and other educators.  Dorothy’s favorite part of CCU is the community out reach events that we are involved in, from giving free hair cuts to disadvantaged children or helping veterans, she strives for the great feeling of touching so many lives.  In her past 8 years at CCU, and 17 years in the industry, she has witnessed so many students grow not only in the industry, but in every aspect of their life.

Krystal

Krystal has been in the industry for over 6 years and been with CCU for 5.  Her favorite aspect of being part of the CCU Team is being part of the most Elite Haircutting and Coloring program in the world...Sassoon!  She also loves being able to share her knowledge with her students.  Her passion is haircutting, though she loves it all.  She has had the opportunites for post graduate education in Santa Monica, Chicago, New York City and London, England.  She also frequents International Dermal Institute for cutting edge training.  Krystal is a Cosmetology Careers Unlimited Graduate.

Dereck

Mid-Term and Certification Instructor

Dereck has been in the industry for 10 years, and been with the CCU team for 6.  He continues to work in the salon, in addition to teaching at CCU.  He loves brining his knowledge of technical skills and marketing yourself as stylists with his acquired knowledge due to continuing to work behind the chair.  Dereck loves being in the cosmetology industry because of its close relation to fashion and art. 

 April

Admissions

April is a recent graduate of CCU and also works part time in a salon.  She loves cutting, coloring, skin care and doing hair extensions.  While at CCU, April does contests, product knowledge classes, social media among other activies.  Her favorite part of being part of the CCU team is keeping students updated on current events and the latest trends, also the family atmopshere within the student body.  April has been able to travel in San Diego, Las Vegas, Phenoix and was a finalist in the Matrix Spread the Love contest and was flown to New York City in December 2010.

~ Meet our Owners ~

Richard Shaffer, President & CEO, along with his wife Karen (secretary/treasurer), purchased Cosmetology Careers Unlimited in July of 2004. Since buying the schools, they have remodeled the Duluth and Hibbing campuses.  They have also partnered with Nuts & Bolts Training and Sassoon Academy to raise the bar of education in the industry.
